Terms & conditions

Repair, restoration, modification and shipping terms.

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Before authorizing work
Please read these terms, disclose your bat’s full condition and repair history, and confirm the scope and shipping arrangements. Repairs have inherent risks; original performance and durability are not guaranteed.

1. Who we are; agreement and acceptance

Cleaver Cricket LLC (“Cleaver Cricket,” “we,” “us” or “our”) operates this website and provides cricket bat repair, refurbishment, modification, protection and related custom services from Queens Village, New York. Your service provider and contracting party is Cleaver Cricket LLC. No member, manager or employee gives a personal guarantee merely by communicating with you or performing work for the company. Nothing here creates personal liability solely because of a person’s company role, or removes liability that applicable law independently imposes.

These terms and your written, approved work order govern your service. Before we start work, you must receive these terms and affirmatively accept them and the scope, price and any special risks in writing or through an available acceptance control. Sending an inquiry alone does not authorize work or constitute acceptance of the repair-risk provisions. A specific written agreement controls over an inconsistent general term. Customers must be at least 18 or have an adult owner or guardian authorize the transaction.

2. Ownership, accurate disclosure and customer instructions

You represent that you own the item or have the owner’s permission to authorize the work. Provide accurate contact and return-address details, the bat’s make/model, approximate age, existing damage, previous repairs or modifications, moisture or heat exposure, treatments, and any known loose parts or safety concerns. Include clear photos of the face, back, edges, toe, shoulders and handle, and identify sentimental, collectible or unusually high-value items before shipping.

You are responsible for inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information and instructions, including resulting changes to the assessment, price, repair suitability or outcome. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage caused by those omissions or instructions. This does not excuse loss independently caused by conduct for which we remain legally responsible. Do not send extra accessories, covers or personal items unless we agree to receive them.

3. Assessments, estimates and additional work

Photo-based advice and estimates are preliminary. Hidden cracks, internal damage, weak willow, failed glue, rot, splice defects, previous repairs and other conditions may only become apparent during physical inspection or authorized work. Catalog prices apply only to the stated inclusions; other work, replacement parts and shipping are separate unless expressly included. We do not promise that every bat is repairable or suitable for modification.

If the condition differs from the description or additional work is needed, we will pause the affected work and seek approval for a revised scope and price. We will not perform or charge for unapproved additional repairs. You remain responsible for authorized work already completed and any inspection or return-shipping charges disclosed and agreed beforehand. We may decline unsafe or unsuitable work.

4. Authorization and unavoidable repair risks

Authorize the exact repair, profile, weight target, handle option, finish and customization before work begins. Repair and modification may involve removing stickers, scuff sheets, bindings, grips or wood; opening cracks; drilling; gluing; clamping; sanding; cutting; refinishing or replacing components. Approved changes may be irreversible and may alter appearance, balance, pickup, sound, dimensions, weight, markings and collectible value.

Used or damaged willow may crack, split, delaminate or fail during reasonable inspection or an authorized repair because of existing weakness or hidden damage. You accept these inherent risks after disclosure; we do not guarantee that a repair attempt will succeed. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for unavoidable consequences of the work you authorize or failure caused by an existing or undisclosed condition. This provision does not excuse gross negligence, intentional misconduct or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

5. Performance, durability and safety

NO GUARANTEE IS GIVEN THAT A REPAIRED BAT WILL PERFORM LIKE NEW, REGAIN ORIGINAL STRENGTH, LAST FOR A PARTICULAR PERIOD OR NUMBER OF INNINGS, ACHIEVE A SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESULT, OR REMAIN FREE OF CRACKS. Repair does not renew the manufacturer’s warranty or constitute a structural or safety certification. Delamination repair in particular is very unlikely to restore original performance, and that outcome is not guaranteed. Weight reduction depends on the available wood and condition; requested targets are not guaranteed unless expressly accepted in writing.

Cricket use subjects willow to repeated impacts. An apparently successful repair can fail again or damage can develop elsewhere. To the extent permitted by law, ordinary wear, repeat cracking, deterioration and performance dissatisfaction not attributable to our breach of an enforceable obligation are the customer’s risk. Stop using a bat that shows an opening crack, loose handle, movement, unusual noise or another unsafe condition. Obtain an assessment before further use.

6. Shipping, loss, theft and carrier damage

Inbound and return shipping involve independent carriers. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you bear the risk of carrier-caused loss, theft, delay, misdelivery, crushing, moisture exposure and other transit damage in both directions. Inbound transit begins when you give the item to the carrier and ends when we physically receive it; return transit begins when we properly package the item and give it to the agreed carrier using the return details you approved.

We do not insure your item automatically or guarantee a carrier’s performance. Request and approve the carrier, declared value, available insurance and signature service before dispatch; you pay agreed charges. A declared value is not necessarily insurance, and coverage, exclusions and reimbursement depend on the carrier’s terms. Use sturdy packaging and tracking, photograph the item and packaging, and keep shipping records. We are not responsible for incorrect addresses, insufficient customer packaging, unauthorized shipping instructions, delivery left unattended, or carrier conduct, except to the extent applicable law imposes responsibility on us.

Claims for carrier-caused loss or damage should be pursued with the responsible carrier or insurer. If the carrier requires the label purchaser to submit the claim, we will reasonably cooperate and provide available records; recovery is not guaranteed. Any carrier payment received by us for your item will be passed on to you to the extent you are entitled to it, without duplicate recovery. These terms do not disclaim liability for our own failure to follow agreed shipping instructions, improper packaging by us, or other conduct that cannot legally be excluded.

7. Inspection on return and care after delivery

Inspect the item and packaging promptly after delivery or local collection and before playing. Report visible shipping damage immediately to the carrier and to us, keep all packaging, and meet the carrier’s claim deadlines. Notify us promptly in writing of an apparent repair concern, with photos and a description, and stop using the item while the concern is assessed. Prompt reporting assists investigation; it does not shorten a statutory warranty or claim period.

After delivery or collection, you are responsible for appropriate storage, care, preparation and use. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for later damage caused by play, impact, misuse, excessive knocking-in or oiling, water, heat, humidity, drying, unsuitable storage, accidents, neglected care or another person’s handling. Delivery does not remove responsibility for a defect or breach that applicable law attributes to us. Follow any care guidance provided and avoid continued use of a damaged bat.

8. Previous and subsequent third-party work

Disclose all known repairs, alterations, adhesives, fillers, fasteners and other treatments performed by you, manufacturers or other repairers. We are not responsible for another party’s workmanship or for damage or failure caused by prior or subsequent third-party work. Such work may limit what we can assess or repair.

Do not alter an area under review before we have a reasonable opportunity to inspect it. A claim may be refused to the extent a third party’s alteration caused the problem or prevents reliable assessment. Merely using another repairer does not automatically remove any nonwaivable legal right or excuse a defect independently attributable to us.

9. Parts, customization and manufacturer warranties

Replacement handles, protection, finishes and other materials may differ from the original. Natural variations in wood, color, grain and finish are expected. Approve engraving text, spelling, dimensions, artwork and any proof carefully; we are not responsible for customer-approved errors. We remain responsible, subject to these terms and applicable law, for departing from the approved instructions.

Repairs or modifications may affect an existing manufacturer’s warranty. Check that warranty before authorizing work. We do not speak for manufacturers, cricket governing bodies or other third parties and do not guarantee competition eligibility or endorsement.

10. Payment, cancellation, turnaround and collection

Payment terms, any deposit, shipping charges and estimated timing will be provided with the work order. Estimates of completion or delivery are not guarantees. Curing, hidden damage, parts availability, workload and events beyond reasonable control can affect timing; we will communicate material changes.

You may request cancellation before work begins. If cancellation occurs after authorization and commencement, you are responsible for the agreed value of completed work and previously approved, nonrecoverable custom materials, subject to applicable law. Completed authorized services and personalized items are not refundable merely because you change your mind or dislike an inherent characteristic disclosed beforehand. This does not restrict remedies for our failure to perform agreed work or other legally required refunds.

Arrange return shipping or collection promptly when work is complete. Storage charges apply only if disclosed and separately agreed in advance. We will not treat an item as abandoned, sell it or dispose of it without the notices and procedures required by applicable law.

11. Warranty limitations

Except for an express written commitment in your work order and warranties required by law, no additional warranty is offered. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE FOR SERVICES AND PARTS WHERE SUCH DISCLAIMERS ARE LAWFUL. We do not disclaim an express promise or a warranty that applicable consumer law requires or prohibits us from disclaiming.

Some jurisdictions do not allow particular warranty exclusions or limitations, so those provisions may not apply to you. Any manufacturer’s separate warranty is governed by its own lawful terms.

12. Limitation of liability and excluded losses

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLEAVER CRICKET LLC IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS, INCLUDING LOST PLAYING TIME, MISSED MATCHES, LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF OPPORTUNITY OR SENTIMENTAL OR COLLECTIBLE VALUE ARISING FROM OUR SERVICES, AN ITEM OR THIS WEBSITE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR A CLAIM RELATING TO A PARTICULAR SERVICE OR ITEM, WHETHER IN CONTRACT OR TORT, INCLUDING ORDINARY NEGLIGENCE, IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE AFFECTED SERVICE (EXCLUDING TAXES AND CARRIER CHARGES) OR $100. These limitations apply only where lawful and enforceable and do not reduce any mandatory statutory remedy. They do not cover fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury liability that cannot be limited, or any other liability that applicable law prohibits us from excluding or limiting.

These allocations of risk are part of the service price. If you require a different allocation for a valuable item, contact us before authorizing work. No greater coverage exists unless we expressly agree to it in writing.

13. Customer-caused third-party claims

To the extent permitted by law, you will reimburse Cleaver Cricket LLC for reasonable, documented loss and costs from a third-party claim caused by your lack of authority to submit the item, knowingly false disclosures, unlawful supplied artwork or instructions, or misuse. This obligation applies only to the extent you caused the claim and does not cover our own negligence, misconduct or breach. We will notify you of such a claim and reasonably cooperate; no settlement imposing obligations on you will be made without your consent.

14. Website, content and external services

Website descriptions, photos and past projects illustrate our work; they do not guarantee identical results. We may correct pricing or content errors before accepting an order, but will not change an accepted price without agreement. Our branding and original content may not be copied for commercial use without permission. External links, WhatsApp, Instagram, payment services and carriers are operated by third parties under their own terms; we do not control their availability or conduct.

Customer photos supplied for assessment are used to evaluate and document the work. Permission to publish identifiable customer details, testimonials or customer-supplied images will be requested separately; accepting these terms does not itself provide that permission. Our Privacy Policy explains website information practices.

15. Concerns, applicable law and disputes

Contact Cleaver Cricket LLC through our contact page or WhatsApp at +1 646-626-6532 with your order details, photos and the remedy requested. Allow a reasonable opportunity to inspect the item and respond. No additional return, inspection or repair charge will be imposed without your agreement. We may propose correction, re-performance or a refund as appropriate; this process does not replace remedies required by law.

New York law governs, except where mandatory consumer law requires otherwise. Subject to those rights, disputes may be brought in courts of competent jurisdiction in Queens County, New York. Nothing here prevents an eligible small-claims action, a lawful complaint to a regulator, or use of a forum that mandatory law makes available. There is no mandatory arbitration or class-action waiver in these terms.

16. Legal rights, severability and future updates

Every disclaimer, release and limitation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent lawful. Nothing waives rights that cannot legally be waived. Failure to enforce a provision once is not a waiver of later enforcement.

Updated terms apply prospectively to new work after notice and acceptance; we will not retroactively change an existing accepted work order. These terms, the accepted work order and any expressly agreed written changes form the service agreement.
